Stand fast

I was at a fellowship meeting on Saturday and something that one of the brothers said really struck me. 
You remember how Jonathon and David were very close friends. Jonathon said to David “Do not fear, for the hand of Saul my father shall not find you. You shall be king over Israel, and I shall be next to you. Even my father Saul knows that." 1 Samuel 23:17. However, the next time we read of Jonathon, he is by Saul's side, dead. "So Saul, his three sons, his armor-bearer, and all his men died together that same day." 1 Samuel 31:6. 
We are able to apply this to our daily lives. We can say that we will stand faithfully with the Lord, but the next thing that happens is that we are far away from Him. And that's a really dangerous situation to be in. Remember: "Watch, stand fast in the faith, be brave, be strong." 1 Corinthians 16:13.
