God's Not Dead

I know this film came out 2 years ago, but seriously…what a powerful film! It showed me some great arguments for God’s existence and really encouraged me, especially when I saw the amount of people commenting on how they love God and believe He exists. The film showed us how we are able to stand up for the truth (of course, only through the strength of God). Many of us think, ‘no way will this ever happen to me, that would be harassment.’ But you would be surprised. Maybe not to the extreme that you would have to present a case for God in front of all your classmates, but maybe you would have to argue the existence of God to your colleagues and your peers.
I will never forget the day that my science teacher asked our class if any of us believed in something other than evolution. I said nothing and I completely regret it. My friend even said that she was surprised that I didn’t say anything. I didn’t want to be ridiculed or made fun of for my belief in God. But the Bible says ‘Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.’ James 1:12. I should have believed that God would have given me the strength to withstand these trials, but my faith was small. I pray that I will always have to courage to show my belief in an all powerful God.
A great argument from the film was on morals. If you haven’t watched it, it goes a bit like this. An atheist does not believe in moral absolutes, but if I were to cheat on a test, that atheist would immediately tell me I was doing wrong and that I should have known that. But what basis does he have? If my actions will cause me to succeed, then why shouldn’t I perform them? For Christians, what constitutes right and wrong is a straight line that leads directly back to God. With no God, there is no reason to be moral. There is no standard of what moral behaviour is. ‘If God does not exist, then everything is permissible’ Dostoevsky. Not only this, it is also pointless. Our lives are completely meaningless.
Anyway, I won’t spoil the film too much for you if you haven’t watched it, but I would certainly recommend it.
