Commitment

Hi! How do you start a blog? You have no idea who is going to read it, or even if anyone is going to read it ;) I have proper difficulties spending time with the Lord and studying God’s Word, so I hope that this will help me, as well as you. I guess you could say I have problems with commitment. Like with this blog- I’ve been putting it off for ages! I put off doing schoolwork, chores, and sadly, time with the Lord. So I thought that in this blog we could talk about commitment.

People have always had problems with commitment! In Numbers 32:11, the Lord says about the children of Israel ‘surely none of the men who came up from Egypt, from twenty years old and above, shall see the land which I swore to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, because they have not wholly followed me’. Not being committed to the Lord has consequences; it starts a negative chain reaction. The children of Israel did not fully trust God, because they didn’t ‘wholly follow’ Him and so were not allowed to enter the Promised Land. For us, we will be spiritually weak and therefore give in to temptation. There is no way we are able to manage our lives alone, we need strength from God. That is only from having a relationship with Him through reading His Word and praying. David says in Psalm 31:5 ‘Into Your hand I commit my spirit; You have redeemed me, O Lord God of truth’. We need to commit our lives to the Lord so that we have strength along the way to maintain a close relationship with Him.
